Convenience, convenience, convenience. I buy everything on Amazon for the same reason I love my Keurig - CONVENIENCE!

And up until recently, I was buying my coffee pods on Amazon too. Wow, what a mistake..

Java. Cup-a-dirt. Wakey-wakey juice. Whatever you call it, you know you need it. After water, coffee is the #2 most consumed beverage in the world. So, it’s no wonder over 40% of households have a Keurig machine in their home.

Why I Stopped Buying K-Cups on Amazon
(And You Should, Too!)

Convenience, convenience, convenience. I buy everything on Amazon for the same reason I love my Keurig - CONVENIENCE!

And up until recently, I was buying my coffee pods on Amazon too. Wow, what a mistake..

Well, here’s a surprise.. Like me, you’ve probably been sacrificing mornings with great, fresh coffee for the “convenience” that Amazon shipping provides. But, that coffee you’ve been buying in one-click? It’s likely been sitting on a shelf for months to over a year. And, if you want to experience the real flavor of that coffee, roasting experts say you must drink it within 2 weeks of being roasted, 4 weeks MAX.

Listen, I’m consistently blown away by Amazon’s delivery model, which is made possible by its “fulfillment network” model. Amazon requires merchants (ex. Dunkin Donuts) to ship their product to many of its 110+ shipping centers, and from there, the merchant’s package sits on a shelf for days to a year. That package is delivered when a customer in the surrounding location places an order.

Pretty impressive! And, pretty ideal for 99% of all Amazon orders. EXCEPT food products that should be consumed FRESH. As the second most consumed beverage, Coffee makes it the PRIME EXAMPLE of a product that should not be bought on Amazon. Just google “how long does fresh coffee last” and see for yourself..

So, what now? When I found out, it made me feel like I had wasted money for years. I wanted to find a better coffee pod vendor. A vendor that was convenient and fast, but skipped the warehouse middleman and delivered me high quality coffee that was FRESH.

Atlas Coffee Club is one of the highest rated, most well reviewed (Bon Appetit, New York Times, Coffee Talk, etc) direct-to-consumer coffee companies in the world. And recently, they made it their mission to create the world’s first great coffee pod. And, I can now say that this is, without a doubt, the best coffee pod I’ve ever had.

As I looked more into coffee pod alternatives, it got even bleaker. It seems the entire coffee “industry” believes that most coffee pod providers stuff their pods with cheap, over roasted, bitter coffee – even if they charge you a pretty penny. That was, until I found the newly launched “Atlas Coffee Pod”.

I’ll save you the full details, but their head roaster mentions a few innovations that led to the company succeeding in its mission:

  1. Uses top 1% coffee
  2. Freshly roasts (to customer’s preferences) and ships within 3 days
  3. Includes 20% more coffee per coffee pod
  4. Uses a specially designed (recyclable) cup to improve extraction

I’m not going to bore you to death with details. If you take anything from this, just trust me – don’t buy coffee on Amazon. If you want to try other alternatives, go for it. But, I’ve tried almost all of them, and it doesn’t even come close. Atlas’ new Coffee Pods are incredible.

Listen, I’m consistently blown away by Amazon’s ability to deliver my package quickly and reliably. Amazon’s delivery consistency comes down to its “fulfillment network” model. Basically, Amazon has 110 shipping facilities in the US (roughly 2 per state). Amazon merchants (ex. Dunkin Donuts) will ship their product to one center, then Amazon will ship smaller amounts to 20+ of its 110 shipping facilities. From there, the merchant’s package sits on a shelf for days to a year, and is delivered when a customer in the surrounding location places an order.
